On my mind

...are still magnificent colors of nomad Asia... less word, more show! ;)

Yesterday I was searching my yarn sources for color charts to use for things I want to make, based on my inspiration by these costumes. Lopi - the classic water repellent yarn from Island is one of my first considerations, because it felts very well, protects from wetness, is lightweight, durable and the color, of course, the color selection is broad, in the chart below I can find almost every color I need. Lopi would be most suitable for over-the-shoulder one strap bags, that you would want to take everywhere, and that would fit all of your favorite/necessary on the go stuff. I can't wait to start working on this project! ;) But first, I need to finish my Tribal Market knitting, and participate there, and report back to you how it all went.. :)

It's very cold in our apartment, and when I dress in the morning, I feel like I need to put lots of warm layers, eventually, I end up looking like a skinny cabbage, and when I finally go outside all prepared for the cold to attack me, it's not that bad at all! The temperature outside is almost the same as in the room haha! :)

Weekly inspirations

I am watching National Geographic six-episode documentary about Africa. Everything about shown culture fascinates me.. it is so pure, bodies and emotions uncovered by shame we impose on ourselves in the west... so beautiful!
Needless to say I am feeling tribal ;)

p.s. I don't usually give credits for using images found on a random blog, tumblr or some other place I don't have a connection with simply because I find it more than unnecessary. So, unless you are the person who owns the photograph, please, don't be upset about you ego not letting an issue like this one go ;)

Chunks of knit!

I can't say I am very much into latest fashion, at least not as much as I used to be. I do some research of the collections each season to stay on top, but my inspiration comes from the people on the street, from free-styled art forms of any kind, from the cultural documentaries I'm hooked on right now... But, they say it is going to be a big-chunky knits season (not the first one in the row). Here're creations by Johan Ku.. white, sculptured, just like the name of the collection "Emotional Sculpture".

All wrapped up!

Cool weather time is not that far, you know ;) First thing I put on as soon as it gets chilly is a cozy scarf!
Here's what the finished scarf, which I posted about a week or so ago, looks like on me:

Strangely, the colors look like they're from the 70's magazine... well, I don't have a camera, true. Lost it somewhere on the nude beach last summer. But who says I regret it? Yep, yep, the pictures in the blog are taken with my iPhone, using CameraBag application, let the creators of it have endless flow of creativity ;)

Folklore

I have always been fascinated with the idea of mixing traditional elements of folklore costumes into modern clothes. They're are so pleasant to wear or just look at, having a history of hundreds of years sometimes. Here, KENZO use parts of Slavic costume - the head scarves, long skirts and belted silhouettes, field flower patterns (love!) and traditionally braided and/or side-parted hair. Brilliant, if you ask me ;)

Finished Business

The "fur" vest has been finished for some time now, but I haven't had a chance to take a good picture of it.
Here's a close up. It really has a feel of something from the late 60's or even 70's. I can totally imagine the vest worn over practically anything, well, not a suit though... however....hmm :) It is just amazingly warm and cozy, that you don't want to take it off. The loopy fur keeps asking to be touched!
