A Pirate's Pyrite

This week I went to get some beading supplies to the city, and two of the major scores were a string of naturally shaped little rocks of pyrite, size of small pearl each; and a string of rose flowers carved out of pyrite!
I had a few delightful hours in the beading shop ;)
So, pyrite. Shiny stone, that looks like metal. Stunning and simple.
Here's what minerals.net says about this beautiful stone:
"Pyrite is commonly called Fools Gold because of its similarity in color, shape, and habit to Gold. In the old mining days, Pyrite was often confused with Gold as they occur together, although Gold and Pyrite can very easily be distinguished by simple observation and testing of characteristics."

If you are ever in Nevada county in California, go to Yuba river, my favorite river ever ;) It sparkles and glistens, like no other.. because it has pyrite crystals in it! Gorgeous river - it's mood is lovely always ;) Magical California...♡♡♡
